We host a relaxed meeting on the third Monday of even months, where residents can hear from guest speakers, elected officials and share about relevant projects.

Meeting Policies

Neutrality in Meetings

Association meetings shall remain nonpartisan and focused on neighborhood concerns.

Political discussions may be allowed if relevant to neighborhood issues, but must be conducted respectfully and without campaigning.

Expectations of Guest Speakers

Guests should limit presentations to the allotted time; focus on community benefits rather than self-promotion; allow for a brief Q&A session; and encourage people who want to discuss individual issues to do so outside of the meeting.

Expectations of Political Candidates

Candidates for political office are welcome and encouraged to attend any Carondelet Neighborhood Association meeting at any time. Attendance is an excellent way to:

  • Learn about our neighborhood, its residents, and the issues that matter to us;
  • Speak informally with residents before and after the meeting.

Political candidates or campaign representatives may not use Association meetings, events, or communications to access member contact information.

Current elected officials seeking re-election or running for another office may address the membership as they ordinarily would in their capacity as an elected representative, with the expectation that their remarks remain focused on topics relevant to the neighborhood and the duties of their current office.

Candidates who wish to formally address the membership during a meeting may do so under the following conditions:

  • Final meeting before the election only. A candidate may address the membership only at the last regularly scheduled association meeting before their election — whether that is a primary or a general election.
  • Advance notice is required. To be placed on the agenda, candidates must contact the Board at least one (1) week before the meeting at which they wish to speak. Requests should be submitted by email to:
  • Time allotted for political candidates is at the discretion of the President and will be determined based on the number of candidates, scheduled speakers for other topics, and additional business items on the agenda. Allotted time may vary from meeting to meeting or election to election based on the needs of the neighborhood and the flexibility of the agenda at that time. Candidates will be notified of their allotted time no later than two days prior to the meeting.

Candidates may be explicitly invited to speak at Association meetings only if:

  • All candidates for the same office are offered equal opportunity to participate.
  • The purpose is to inform residents about issues relevant to the neighborhood.
  • The event is clearly labeled as informational and not an endorsement of any individual candidate.
